CAIRO, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) Paris summit held in France aimed to maintain Libya`s security, AL Secretary- General Amr Moussa said Saturday.
AL pursues regaining the unity of Libya and protecting the citizens from military interference, Moussa said in a press statement.
He underlined that Libyan declaration of ceasefire is regarded as an important and essential step but still a preliminary move to control the destabilized situation in the country, adding that other steps have to be taken to secure Libya`s land and people and stop the bloodshed.
"Starting dialogue with the Libyan regime depends on its seriousness and commitment to stop using heavy weapons and aircraft to bomb people," Moussa said.
AL foreign ministers agreed on Feb. 12 in an emergency meeting in Cairo upon urging the UN Security Council to impose a no-fly zone in Libya to protect the citizens.
On Thursday, the UN Security Council approved a draft to set up a no-fly zone over Libya which authorizes "all necessary measures" to protect civilians in Libya.
The spokesperson of Egyptian Foreign Ministry Menha Bakhom said Friday that Egypt won`t take part in any military action against Libya.
